Edinburgh is Scotland’s capital : until Union with England in 1707, it was also the site of its Parliament.

Perched high on an extinct volcanic outcrop, Edinburgh Castle dominates the city. It was residence to many Scottish Kings and Queens : as every of these occupants modified or added to the original structure, it is today a rich architectural mixture of palace, fortress, barracks, chapel and war memorial.
It is also the home of the Scottish Crown Jewels, the oldest Royal Regalia in Britain.
